Launched in 2003 , it continues to meet the need for stronger health systems and infrastructure that address pressing medical challenges. Implemented together with non-governmental organizations, Local Health Fellow assignments are designed and implemented to cater to local needs. In Malaysia, Pfizerians volunteer for attachments with Care-A-Van, an initiative that offers medical accessibility to fill unmet medical needs of those living in the semi-urban and rural areas nationwide.
Inspired by Pfizer Inc's Global Health Fellows which provides selected colleagues across the world an opportunity to volunteer in a third world country with various partners, Pfizer Malaysia invented its very own Health Fellows project to give colleagues the opportunity to have hands-on experience of spending 5-7 days in the remote parts of East Malaysia among indigenous communities partnering with Care-A-Van.
